An excellent meal cannot fail to include an excellent glass of wine. And Tuscany, as we know, is a land dedicated to the production of famous and enchanting reds. Like those of the Conti Capponi di Villa Calcinaia, vine growers in Greve in Chianti since 1524, a tradition that has been handed down for generations and generations, for centuries of infinite care and dedication to the land and the vines.
A tradition linked to the production of Chianti Classico from the approximately 30 hectares of specialised vineyards, where the Capponi Counts have been producing internationally renowned and appreciated wines since the beginning of the 20th century, but renowned since the 16th century.
In fact, in the Capponi family archives one can find all the documentation attesting to their esteemed production since the Renaissance. At every harvest, the family shares the hopes, worries, pride and commitment that are part of the immense art required by the vines. Because making wine, you know, is more than just work: it is being in symbiosis with the land itself, feeling its breath and treating it like a work of art. The Chianti Classico of Villa Calcinaia is the truest expression of the traditions of this land and of this family, which has renewed itself over the years with techniques and methods that put respect for the environment and for man at the centre.
In fact, Villa Calcinaia has been an organic farm since 2000: initially on the olive groves, then extended to the old vineyards planted between 1959 and 1975, and then to the transformation of the product into oil and wine.
Its rich and valuable heritage of its own vine and olive genome dating back to the late 19th century is also propagated with each new planting. Drinking a wine like this is not only the perfect culmination of a meal that has the flavours of the land, but also the absolute sublimation of man's work in respect of history and the land.
